La Trattoria: The Classic Italian Kitchen

After the few hours I spent walking around and exploring the wonderful Adamson Square, I was, for lack of a better term, starving. There were quite a few restaurants to choose from, I ultimately landed at La Trattoria, alongside my mom who was able to join me for lunch.

A Taste of Italy in Georgia

Tequila Sunrise

The interior of the restaurant was washed in a warm light. The tinted windows helped the inside to achieve a laid-back and chill environment. It wasn’t incredibly busy on account of us eating lunch around 3pm, but nonetheless, the staff was incredibly quick to greet us and let us take our seat wherever we’d like. Within 10 minutes, we’d ordered everything. Of course, we had to start our meal with a nice drink. I decided on a tequila sunrise, and my mom and I both loved the taste. Only a few minutes later, our appetizer had already arrived.

Bruschetta

For our appetizer, we both agreed on bruschetta. Bruschetta is a fairly light appetizer: toasted bread topped garlic, cheese, tomatoes, spinach, and drizzled in balsamic glaze. It’s common to find bruschetta at Italian restaurants, thus it wasn’t the first time we’d ever had the appetizer. However, I can confidently say that it was one of the best bruschetta we’ve ever had. The toppings tasted fresh with a slight airiness to them with an almost fragrant aroma. If we hadn’t been saving room for the rest of our meal, we definitely would have finished the appetizer right then and there.

Before we knew it, our main course had arrived. My mom decided on their special–a Tuscan chicken ravioli–while I went with gnocchi topped with a rosatella sauce (essentially, red sauce mixed with alfredo). Once we began to eat our meals, both of us knew we would have to visit again. Each dish was absolutely delicious. We eventually took a bite from each other’s meal as well, and even then we were incredibly satisfied with the taste. Despite the speed of service, the food did not taste rushed in the slightest. They were both filling in their own way. My gnocchi dish was fantastic; the gnocchi was fried perfectly, and there wasn’t so much sauce that it was overbearing. I’m not ashamed to admit there were no leftovers.

Ghirardelli Chocolate Brownie

We don’t typically order desserts when we go out to restaurants, but on top of the delicious food, we’d noticed that the prices were much lower than what we’d assumed based on quality thus far. Though after maybe just a bit of coercing, my mom and I decided to order their brownie sundae. I know that I’ve mentioned over and over how good the food was, but this was the absolute cherry on top. We definitely couldn’t have eaten it ourselves, but with two of us, it was the perfect serving size. The brownie was made with bittersweet chocolate, so while sweet, it was not so sweet that it overwhelmed you. Even better, it was warm from the oven and paired perfectly with the vanilla bean ice cream they brought with it. I wish we could’ve ordered to take home for another day, but this was one of those things you had to enjoy fresh from the over.

I don’t think I could have asked for a better way to end my day at Adamson Square. Everything at La Trattoria was stellar: the food, the staff, the atmosphere, the prices, and the atmosphere. It is incredibly safe to say that I will be returning here for more.
